Today is the second day of the Field Notebook lesson and when I began my lesson at 2:30 pm I had the students take their notebook pages and map pages out and we headed out to the playground together to finish up. Since today was the second day of the lesson and all the students pretty much knew what they were supposed to do there was not a whole lot that I engage in besides just walking around to the students drawing and writing and looking at their work, giving them encouragement and answering some questions about whether their sentences were good or not. We spent about 30 minutes on the playground and then went back inside around 3:00 pm to get ready to leave for the day.
This time during my quick wrap up I asked them if they felt that they had had enough time to draw and write, and most of them said yes, but there were a few students who said that they did not. For those students who did not, Mrs. K. let them know that they could take their maps and sentences outside with them at recess and finish them at that time.
